About the Austin Area Amateur Radio ClubThe Austin Area Amateur Radio Club was established in 1958 by W0AZR Cecil Davis (1904-1993). There were 26 original members and hopefully, someday I will be able to have a complete list of the original members. Cecil Davis was considered the Grandfather of Amateur Radio in Austin, MN. In 1973, Cecil Davis WØAZR, Douglas Schmidt WAØVEZ and Keith Dahlgren WAØVEB with the help of Civil Defense Director James Weber promoted and received our first Mower County Civil Defense 2 Meter Repeater.
